OpenCast - The new open source video solution

For many years SWITCH has been offering video tools for collaboration and lecture recording. With the new generation of SWITCHcast, based on the open source software OpenCast, SWITCH offers new possibilities to use videos in higher education, for example fully embedded videos in an LMS, or stand alone video systems for automated lecture recording.

In this workshop, we would like to discuss the actual status of the SWITCH video solution and look at new video tools, which are based on the OpenCast video system. In addition, we would like to discuss best practices, and investigate possible challenges when using videos in higher education.

In the afternoon, we invite you to share your experiences and best practices in the use of videos in higher education with us. This could be a showcase of a successful video installation at your institution, a detailed analysis about how videos have changed your learning environment, or a presentation about the didactic benefit when using videos in higher education.
