Ticio Escobar is an art historian and anthropologist. Until 2008 he was founding director of the Museum for Indigenous Art - Center for Visual Arts at Asunción, from 2008 until 2013 he served as Paraguay’s Minister of Culture. His many books on indigenous/contemporary art, the philosophy of the aesthetic, and on democracy and postdictatorship have beeb published in several Latin American countries as well as Spain and the US.
